- What kind of computer do I need for the client program?
- Pretty much anything. It's a tiny program that takes up basically no resources. It can run on your gaming rig, a raspberry pi, your NAS, really anything.
- What operating system does the client program run on?
- We're adding more supported operating systems all the time so you tell us what you want to run it on and we'll make it happen.
- Will you call Comcast customer service for me?
- Nope! You're on your own for that one.
- Can the client program run on a computer that has wireless internet?
- Yes, but we don't recommend it. Wireless is a lot less stable than wired so it's hard to tell if any fluctuations are just the wireless acting up or actually a problem with your internet.
- Can I turn off the computer the client program is running on?
- Not if you want data. Our system will think there is a problem with your internet because suddenly all data will stop.
- What does the client program do?
- It sends out a bunch of small packets of data to the internet (Google and Cloudflare), your router, and other computers on your network. It then averages the results for each target and sends them to the website to be graphed for your convenience.
- Do llamas spit?
- Yes, they can spit over 10 feet! But they are really friendly and usually won't. Unless you annoy them, in which case you probably deserved it.
Let's do this!
